On the day
Kalmar Castle is a genuine Renaissance fortress, so wear comfortable shoes for the older towers' stone stairways and mind uneven floors. Show your mobile ticket at the entrance any time within that day's opening hours — in 2026, 10:00–18:00 at the summer peak (22 June–9 August), 10:00–16:00 or 10:00–17:00 through the rest of the daily season, and 11:00–15:00 in winter, late autumn and December, when the castle opens on selected days only. Opening days vary by season and change each year, so we confirm the castle is open on your date before we ticket it. Allow two to three hours for the state rooms, the fortifications and the castle's prison tower.
